RS Electric Boats – part of the RS Marine Group – is supporting the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix | Portsmouth racing event, taking place off Portsmouth from July 19 – 20.

The manufacturer’s RS Pulse 63 will serve as a support boat during the Rolex SailGP race weekend operations supporting race teams on the water.

“We’re incredibly excited to be part of such a prestigious and forward-thinking event,” said Alex Newton-Southon, managing director of RS Electric Boats.

SailGP represents the very best in elite racing and innovation.

“Being able to support it with the RS Pulse 63 showcases how electric marine technology can play a vital role in the future of water sports and marine operations.”

Electric RIB

The RS Pulse 63 is a fully integrated electric RIB designed to incorporate sustainability, performance, and user experience.

The vessel has an advanced electric drive system, dynamic hull design, and a smart energy management system, to offer zero emissions.

The RIB is purpose-built for commercial and leisure use.

Sports championship

SailGP is a high-speed, high-tech racing global sports championship that was founded by Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison in 2018.

The championship sees rival teams from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Brazil, Italy, Canada, France, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Spain race at venues around the world in short, intense races for a total prize pot of US $12.8 million.

The teams take part in F50 foiling catamarans that can reach speeds up to 60mph. Alongside the sailing event, there is also a SailGP Impact League that sees teams compete in a sustainability leaderboard.
