Novamarine acquires Tornado Yachts

Novarmarine, part of the SNO group, has acquired the Tornado Yachts brand.

The deal is designed to offer the Sardinian company new opportunities in the luxury sports boat market, starting with the production of the Tornado 38.

Novamarine specialises in the design, production and marketing of high-performance RIBs in the pleasure and professional segments from 8 to 22 metres in length, and says the desl is part of its development strategy.

The acquisition will allow Novamarine to expand its product offering to include luxury sports boats and fibreglass pleasure yachts, with the aim of consolidating the company’s positioning and expanding its customer base.

Novamarine will take over the entire production of boats under the Tornado brand, centralising manufacturing at its facilities in Olbia.

This operation represents operational continuity for Tornado Yachts.

The first boat will be the 11.95 metres Tornado 38, with future models planned together with the overhaul and technical upgrade of existing vessels.

“Novamarine’s focus will not only be on producing new boats, but also on refitting the brand’s historic vessels,” explained Francesco Pirro, president and CEO of Novamarine,

“We are very satisfied, with the acquisition of this brand, which represents a strategic opportunity to expand our customer base and enter a new market segment, while remaining faithful to the company’s historical positioning.

“In particular, thanks to the acquisition of Tornado, we will be able to produce high performance boats, which will allow us to broaden our offer.”

Daniele Parisi, current CEO of Tornado Yachts, said he is delighted to see Tornado’s heritage continue with Novamarine.

Operational continuity

“This operation represents operational continuity for Tornado Yachts. The brand will thus be able to continue its industrial development within a consolidated production structure.”

Financial details of the acquisition have not been released but Novamarine says it was conducted with ‘careful economic and financial planning, without weighing down Novamarine’s asset structure’.

The acquisition follows on from an earlier announcement from Novamarine that it is to expand its production areas, with the construction of two facilities, one of 5,000 and another of 4,000 square metres.

The first, which will be ready by the end of this year, will become a production site dedicated to fibreglass; the second, scheduled for 2026, will be dedicated to the production of professional boats.

Tornado Yachts was founded in 1968 and based in Lido di Ostia (Rome).
