Norwegian boatbuilder MAREX is expanding its Lithuanian production space with a new 10,000sqm facility.
The new 20 million euro facilitiy at its Kaunas base is in addition to the boatbuilders’ existing 28,000sqm production space.
MAREX, known for its recreational boats, will create 30 new jobs with the investment.
The expansion is to meet the growing demand for larger, high-performance boats from its global customer base.
MAREX employs around 350 workers across Lithuania and Norway and produces approximately 150 boats annually.
The new facility will be equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies, including robotics and process automation, to ensure precision and efficiency in production.
The facility will also be powered by renewable energy sources, including solar and geothermal systems, with over 50% of its energy projected to come from renewables.
MAREX’s latest model is the MAREX 440 Gourmet Cruiser, which won the European Powerboat of the Year award in 2024. The model is among the boats now being produced at the company’s Lithuanian facility.
MAREX plans to introduce several new boat models up to 16.4 meters in length.
Thee models will focus on incorporating the latest in marine design, including improved ergonomics and user-friendly configurations.

Saulius Pajarskas, CEO of MAREX Boats Lithuania, added: “We considered various locations for this expansion, including other countries, but ultimately chose Lithuania because of its robust infrastructure and highly skilled workforce.
“The flexibility and adaptability of the Lithuanian labour market are among the critical factors in supporting our growth and meeting evolving business demands.”
The expansion is expected to create 30 new jobs in Lithuania, ranging from technicians and engineers to assembly line specialists.
MAREX Boats Lithuania has signed a cooperation agreement with Kaunas Education Center of Technologies (Kautech) to foster quality of education, training and internships.
MAREX was founded in 1973 in Norway with models including the MAREX 330 Scandinavia and the MAREX 360 Cabriolet Cruiser.
