Banshee Marine Audio has launched a new speaker designed for under gunwale installations.
The Banshee Marine Audio LSUG Under Gunwale Speaker includes two under gunwale speaker arrays in tuned enclosures.
Each enclosure houses two four-inch drivers and a horn loaded tweeter, with the system tuned to elevate higher frequencies to enhance the listening experience when the speakers are mounted under the gunwales facing downward.
The LSUG Under Gunwale speaker system is the second release in Banshee Marine Audio’s audio suite following on from the VA1 Active VHF Extension Speaker.
“As audio manufacturers we have really neglected this part of the market in recent years,” said Dan Soeters, founder, Banshee Marine Audio. “Not every boater or manufacturer wants to cut a six-inch hole in their boat to add quality sound.
Tuned enclosure
“The LSUG is a product any DIY boat owner can grab off the shelf and fit themselves. We have tried to make it as simple as possible; we even went as far as including the installation tool in the box.”
And he explained that to make the most out of loudspeakers, installers would traditionally need to precisely calculate the enclosure space behind the speaker or have large, air-tight spaces to suit free-air or infinite baffle style systems.
The LSUG Under Gunwale speakers have been designed with a tuned enclosure, allowing installers or DIY boat owners to mount the speakers either under a gunwale or on any other flat bulk-head space.
The onboard stereo or amplifier will see them as though it is any other four Ohm speaker load.
