Multi-million dollar marina upgrade plans

Plans have been announced for a multi-million dollar upgrade to Queensland’s Sandstone Point Marina.

The proposed changes to the dock and boat ramp area will provide new and refreshed amenities with enhanced entertainment areas.

The planned improvements include a waterside deck with outdoor seating surround by new landscaping.

The upgrade will also coincide with the development of a new waterfront apartment complex to be located on the site of the current dry stack storage facility.

Development group Ignite Projects is in the process of acquiring the marina, including the marine lease covering its 150 berths and the associated landholdings.

The dry stack storage provides facilities for boats up to 7 metres plus hard stand storage for boats up to 8 metres.

This upgrade and new name is a natural progression for the marina, alongside other new developments and planned infrastructure improvements.

The proposed upgrade is aimed at breathing new life into the marina precinct, creating a more appealing waterfront activation and new facilities.

“This upgrade and new name is a natural progression for the marina, alongside other new developments and planned infrastructure improvements, such as the Bribie bridge duplication and Caboolture-Bribie Island Road widening,” said Ignite Projects director Josh Foote.

“We will be retaining the 150 berths with no changes and the current fuel dock will also remain in place.

“While we understand that the loss of the dry stack and lifting facilities may cause some inconvenience for marina users, this is an opportunity to enhance the marina experience for the whole community.”

The marina currently provides range of boat maintenance and repair services including antifouling, fibreglass work and detailing.
