Florida-based C & T Composites is to restart production of Catalina and True North yachts is to restart with plans for new models and a new adventure boat line.
Production will remain in Largo, Florida, with C & T Composites stating it will bring skilled team members back together and carry forward respected marine brands that have long been part of the American marine industry.
The company will be led by CEO Patrick Turner alongside John Chen, who brings extensive experience in multi-hull development and board member Hiten Sonpal, chief executive of iRobot and Rice Robotics.
As part of the True North and Catalina revival, former designers and engineers will also be returning to assist with designs and developments with the aim to develop fresh, modern designs for today’s boating market.
In addition to revitalising Catalina and True North, C & T Composites has announced plans to launch Xplor Yachts, a new adventure boat brand designed for today’s active boaters — with the boats designed for performance, versatility, comfort and made in America.
Tremendous respect
“We are honoured to have the opportunity to carry these brands forward,” said Patrick Turner, CEO of C & T Composites, LLC.
“Catalina and True North have earned tremendous respect over many years and our goal is to preserve that legacy while bringing back experienced people who know these boats, adding new talent and building the next generation of Catalina and True North boats right here in America.”
He continued: “John and I also see a strong opportunity to create a new adventure boat brand, which reflects where the market is headed.”
Catalina Yachts and sister company True North Yachts were acquired by Michael Reardon, founder and CEO of Daedalus Yachts in 2025.
Catalina Yachts initiated a temporary production pause in October 2025 while it reorganised key areas of its operation due to what was said to be short-term financial challenges.
Moving forward
Earlier in June 2026, Catalina and True North’s inventory was listed for auction. The inventory included hulls and molds for several models, office furnishings, tools and truck and trailer equipment.
C & T Composites says it now plans to reconnect with existing dealers, owners, vendors, and industry partners as operations resume.
Additional announcements regarding production schedules, model plans, the Adventure Boat program, dealer programs, team member opportunities, and customer support initiatives will be released over the coming months.
“We are very encouraged to see Catalina Yachts moving forward under the leadership of C & T Composites, LLC,” said Rick Dieterich of authorised Catalina Yachts dealer Massey Yacht Sales.
“Catalina has always had a loyal owner base and a strong reputation for practical, well-built sailboats.
“As America celebrates 250 years, it is exciting to see an American-built brand like Catalina entering a new chapter.”
C & T Composites is a Florida-based marine manufacturing and composite company focused on boatbuilding and composite production.
