MarineShift360 opens 2027 accelerator programme

Marine Futures has opened applications for the 2027 MarineShift360 Impact Accelerator, offering marine businesses ten months of funded technical support to reduce environmental impact.

The programme is entering its third year and is provided at no cost to participants, with funding from 11th Hour Racing. Support covers lifecycle assessment, sustainability strategy, materials, manufacturing and supply chains, alongside access to the MarineShift360 assessment tool.

Selected organisations will also receive a funded internship and access to suppliers, technical specialists and other participating businesses. The programme is intended to help companies use environmental data when making design, purchasing and investment decisions.

Previous projects have involved RNLI lifeboats, BAR Technologies’ wind-assisted propulsion, Gurit composite materials, MobyFly electric hydrofoils and recyclable composites developed by nlcomp.

Measurable environmental benefits

Applications are invited from businesses working on lower-impact vessels, materials and manufacturing, circular-economy models or improvements to existing operations. Selection will consider measurable environmental benefits, the distinctiveness of the proposed work, the team’s capacity and commitment, and the extent to which external support is required.

“A lifeboat operator and a composites manufacturer face very different decisions,” said Ollie Taylor, director of Marine Futures. “What they both need is evidence of where they can make the biggest difference, and the expertise to act on it.”

“Marine businesses’ decisions today shape their environmental impact for years to come. We want that impact considered alongside cost and performance,” said Jeremy Pochman, co-founder and chief executive of 11th Hour Racing.

Applications close on 31 December 2026. Shortlisted organisations will be interviewed in January, with final selections due by the end of that month. The programme starts in February 2027.
