Loch Lomond marina and holiday park acquired

Preston-based Harrison Holidays has acquired the Ardlui Hotel, Marina and Holiday Park, located on the northern shore of Scotland’s Loch Lomond.

The acquisition was carried out with a £7 million funding package from HSBC UK and follows the previous owner’s retirement.

Ardlui Hotel, Marina and Holiday Park includes a 12-bedroom hotel, bar and restaurant, self-catering lodges, camping and tourers site. The complex also offers leisure activities and watersports across its 11-acrs.

Harrison Holidays has said it plans to refurbish the hotel and surrounding grounds after the Squires’s family, who have owned and operated the site since 1959, decided to retire and sell the business.

Growth and expansion plans

The firm’s plans include the redesign of the food and beverage areas, both indoors and outdoors with additional lodges and pod accommodation for holiday rentals also proposed.

“Ardlui Hotel, Marina and Holiday Park already has a well-established reputation, providing customers with high-quality hospitality situated within Loch Lomond’s iconic picturesque countryside. With HSBC’s support we can now add to this rich legacy,” said William Harrison, director at Harrison Holidays.

“As a family-run business, we are always strategic with growth and expansion plans. This investment into such a unique holiday park marks an exciting step forward, creating new opportunities for our business and delivering benefits to both holidaymakers and community members alike.”

Harrison Holidays was founded in 1974 and owns and operates holiday parks in coastal and countryside areas across England, including in Cumbria, Northumberland and Suffolk.

Significant investment opportunity

“This acquisition is a fantastic example of a business identifying a significant investment opportunity that strengthens its own portfolio but also contributes to local tourism and economic growth in the region,” added David Edwards, global relationship director at HSBC UK.

“As one of the UK’s largest family-owned holiday and leisure park businesses, Harrison Holidays has a long history of offering family-friendly holiday experiences.”

Marina facilities include swinging moorings, floating pontoons and a boat yard. The marina also has a 20 ton travel hoist, slipway, trailer and boat storage, floating fuel pontoon and pump out station.

The site also has a boat sales and brokerage department dealing in new and used boats.
