IBEX draws 7,700 marine professionals

The 2026 International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference attracted more than 7,700 marine industry professionals from over 55 countries to the Tampa Convention Center.

The trade show featured 701 exhibitors, including 103 first-time participants and 21 new international exhibitors.

Organisers reported year-on-year increases in attendance and show-floor traffic, while nearly 100 students took part in Career Day, produced with the American Boat & Yacht Council.

The technical conference covered boatbuilding, design, onboard systems and repair. Sessions also examined artificial intelligence, automation and 3D printing.

New additions

Eight seminars offered eligible Florida-licensed insurance professionals up to 16 hours of continuing education in marine risk, liability, claims and accident investigation.

New additions to the show included a Main Stage, exhibitor-led Tech Talks and an Emerging Marine Leaders Lounge.

The Marine Ideas Exchange considered leadership, technology and changing customer expectations, while specialist areas covered composites, electronics and next-generation power and propulsion.

The International Pavilion connected overseas suppliers with the North American market. A US Market Accelerator, developed with the National Marine Representatives Association and Marine Marketers of America, introduced international exhibitors to US representatives and marketing professionals.

Product development remained a central focus. The 2026 Innovation Awards selected 12 winners and three honourable mentions from 100 entries.

Recognised products included reloadable adhesive cartridges, wirelessly powered navigation lighting and modular electrical distribution equipment.

Later date

“IBEX is at its best when the industry comes together to share ideas, tackle challenges and move our businesses forward,” said show director Mary Velline.

IBEX will return to Tampa from 7–9 December 2027, beginning a new December schedule.

Organisers say moving beyond hurricane season should reduce weather risk and support more reliable planning.

The later date is also expected to allow additional outdoor demonstrations, an expanded IBEX Docks programme and more technical content for marinas, yards, refit and repair businesses.
