Group Beneteau plans to develop a 15,000-square-metre service and refit site at Canet-en-Roussillon in southern France, with operations expected to begin in mid-2029.
Announced at Les Occasions du Multicoque et du Refit, the project will expand the group’s capacity to maintain, customise and refit sailing and motor yachts over 60ft in the Mediterranean.
It will build on the expertise of BMS, the large-catamaran maintenance and refit specialist integrated into Group Beneteau in October 2025.
The first phase is expected to include about 2,200 square metres of buildings, subject to studies and permits. Built space could later double, while an optional 10,000-square-metre land extension has also been identified.
Mediterranean hub
The waterfront facility will support work on catamarans and monohulls, as well as equipment preparation and installation for new boats.
“By combining BMS’s expertise with the Group’s resources, we aim to develop a Mediterranean hub in Canet dedicated to services for large yachts,” said Clément Himily, managing director at Group Beneteau.
“We are convinced of the potential of refitting pre-owned boats and see this as a new opportunity to scale up Group Beneteau’s NEO programme, with the ambition of making this site a global benchmark in the 60- to 80-foot segment.”
The development will add capacity for NEO, Group Beneteau’s programme for refurbishing pre-owned boats using original plans, moulds and hull-specific parts lists.
Expanded range
The range has expanded from two to eight models across the Lagoon, Beneteau and Jeanneau brands following two initial Lagoon refits completed in the first half of 2026.
Group Beneteau is targeting annual output of 130 NEO refits by 2030. The Canet facility could handle about 10 large yachts a year, operating alongside the group’s other service hubs.
A later phase could add training facilities for owners and crews, covering boat handling, safety and onboard systems. BMS, founded by Pascal Cantiran and Denis Ranjard, employs 20 people and reported revenue of €3.3 million in 2025.
