The Grand Large Yachting group has expanded its aluminium sailboat construction facilities, moving into the into the former Iguana Yachts’ premises in Normandy, France.
The expansion follows on from the shipyard’s acquisition of part of Iguana Yachts’ assets after the company went into liquidation in 2025.
As well as expanding into the premises in Mondeville, Grand Large Yachting has also taken over Iguana’s activities and employees following the company’s closure.
Currently, nine skilled professionals — including carpenters, electricians, painters, and others — have been hired.
Complete sailboat construction
Iguana Yachts had built luxury, fast, and amphibious boats for nearly 15 years.
In 2024, the Grand Large Group took over part of Normandie Yacht Service’s facilities in Mondeville, using 1,800sqm to manufacture its aluminum sailboat hulls, which were then assembled at its Cherbourg site.
The acquisition of Iguana Yachts’ facilities now allows it to benefit from an additional 4,200sqm and, as at its Cherbourg site, carry out the complete construction of sailboats, from manufacturing to direct launching on site.
In 2023, Grand Large Yachting took over the assets and teams of Marsaudon Composites, a builder of high-performance catamarans, and its ORC brand.
The Grand Large Yachting group includes the Allures Yachting, Outremer, Garcia Yachts, Gunboat, RM and ORC brands.
