Ferretti eyes potential acquisition

Italian yacht maker Ferretti is eyeing up a potential acquisition for 2025.

According to a Reuters report, its chief executive is keen to target a new venture – without specifying whether the potential target would be a brand, a yard or another asset.

“We have three different files on the table,” CEO Alberto Galassi told journalists at a press coference. “2025 will be the year of opportunities.”

The shipyard, which has seven different brands including Riva speedboats, had a net cash position of 125 million euros ($135 million) at the end of December, which could be used for any acquisition.

The group is also considering a possible buy-back of shares after plans for a buyback were prevoiusly shelved in April 2024.

Ferretti Group’s main shareholder with a 37.5% stake is Chinese based Weichai and there has been repeated media speculation over the conglomerate’s exit.

It is also rumoured that French based LVMH is interested in becoming a shareholder in the Group.

Record high

In February 2025 it was announced that Ferretti Group’s order book reached an all-time record high of €1.7 billion at the end of 2024, up 11.6% compared to December 2023.

Earlier in March, Ferretti released further details regarding its new flybridge yacht, the Ferretti Yachts 800 that completes its range renewal which began in 2018.

The yacht is currently under construction at Ferretti Yachts’ Cattolica shipyard and is the result of collaboration between the product strategy committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group engineering department.

The yacht has an overall length of 24.47m (80ft 3in) and a maximum beam of 5.91m (19ft 5in).

In addition, a version with a shorter stern platform is also available to comply with the 24-metre limit established by French law.

Category average

Exterior design of the yacht is by Filippo Salvetti, with Idealtalia responsible for the interior design.

Features of the yacht include extensive glazing, a 15sqm cockpit with a glass parapet and a 7sqm beach area.

The flybridge area is larger than the category average (40sqm) due to the arched profile of the superstructure.

On the lower deck, the sleeping area consists of a master suite, a VIP cabin forward and two guest cabins, providing a total of eight berths. There are four ensuite private bathrooms.

Ferretti Yachts 800 can be powered by two 1,550hp MAN V12 engines in the standard version providing a top speed of 27 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots or two 1,800hp MAN V12 engines.
