Excess Catamarans is to offer hybrid propulsion on its models, starting with the boatbuilder’s entry-level model, the Excess 11.
The hybrid system pairs a genset with twin electric engines with the new version available from summer of 2025.
Excess Catamarans, a brand of Group Beneteau, says the new model will meet the increasing expectations of sailors wanting to combine comfort and innovation.
The Excess 11 is a 37ft catamaran designed by naval architects VPLP design with exterior design by Patrick le Quément and interior design by Nauta Design.
Hybrid version
The model features an open cockpit and twin helm stations providing views of the sails.
Additional features include the incorporation of SEANAPPS technology designed to keep a boat safe and seaworthy. The technology enables owners to access a boat’s information directly from a smartphone.
The new hybrid version will be available from summer of 2025 with Excess Catamarans planning to extend the technology onto its new model, the Excess 13.
Excess Catamarans was launched in September of 2019, and offers models ranging from 11 meters to 14 meters in length.
