Italian publisher The International Yachting Media has acquired the brand and domain name of the defunct yachting print magazine Losbarcos.com.
The International Yachting Media bought the title through an online auction which attracted bids from some of the most prominent international publishers.
“The acquisition of Losbarcos.com is a strategic move that demonstrates how The International Yachting Media continues to invest in consolidating its position as the global leader in digital yachting information,” said Luca D’Ambrosio, CEO and founder of the publishing group.
“Print publishing is unfortunately in decline, and it is essential to revitalise prestigious brands like Losbarcos.com, giving them a digital future.”
Media panel
Losbarcos.com joins other publications owned by The International Yachting Media including Yacht Digest, Yachting News and Digital Pilot Book.
The new domain name will soon be integrated into the publisher’s media panel and will be dedicated to the international expansion of its Spanish magazine.
The publication will be available in all Latin American countries.
“This acquisition will further increase our readership,” explained Giorgio Bruno, the group’s commercial director.
“Calling it innovation is an understatement — just in the last three years, we have launched four different digital initiatives.”
