Veolia RVD Centre-Ouest and Composite Recycling have signed a partnership they believe will revolutionise composite waste recycling in western France.
Veolia RVD Centre-Ouest specialises in the collection and treatment of non-hazardous waste from local authorities and industries.
The group aims to offer local solutions to its composite material-producing clients.
Composite Recycling SA has developed thermolysis technology which transforms composite waste into high-quality reusable materials such as fibres and pyrolysis oil.
“Our work involves developing innovative circular economy solutions based on industrial collaborations,” explained Marie Glorennec, head of innovation at Veolia RVD Centre-Ouest.
“These projects aim to create new recycling pathways and provide our local industries with sustainable alternatives and recycled materials for their manufacturing operations.”
The partnership will focus on establishing a new fibreglass production waste recycling scheme over a six to 12-month period at a Veolia RVD Centre-Ouest site in Loire-Atlantique, Brittany, mapping the region’s waste streams and demonstrating the efficiency of Composite Recycling’s thermolysis-based recycling solution.
The project is due to be completed in three phases, starting with the installation of Composite Recycling’s first fiberglass recycling unit in Loire-Atlantique. This will be capable of processing up to two tons of composite waste a day.
The second phase of the project will be the roll out to develop a regional composite waste processing network.
Phase three will be the launch and large-scale operation of composite waste recycling in western France.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for Composite Recycling, bringing us closer to our goal of industrialising our solution to offer real, scalable sustainability solutions to the market,” said Guillaume Perben, Composite Recycling CEO.
Christelle Morançais, president of the Pays de la Loire Region, added: “The Pays de la Loire Region is proud to host this high-value-added project contributing to regional development and sustainability.
“This is why we have provided significant support for it.”
The agreement is between Veolia RVD Centre-Ouest’s subsidiary Paul Grandjouan Saco, and Swiss based Composite Recycling SA.
Composite Recycling’s goal is to divert composite waste from landfills, repurposing it into new high-performance composites.
