BRP is to lay off more than 60 workers from its Sturtevant, Wisconsin, US facility.
The Canadian company is cutting 39 workers immediately, with a further 22 being laid off over the next few weeks. Workers will get paid for the time they would have been given notice.
The announcement follows on from the loss of 298 jobs at the Sturtevant facility in 2024 due to persisting adverse market and economic conditions. The layoffs include engineers, planners and technicians.
None of the workers are in a union, said BRP.
Marine sales
The job losses are said to be due to a decline in marine sales. In October 2024, the company announced it was to sell its marine businesses consisting of Alumacraft, Manitou, and Telwater (Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellofin) brands, marine parts, acessories and apparel.
BRP is headquarted in Quebec and has a global workforce of around 20,000. Around 250 workers are understood to remain at the Sturtevant plant.
The company’s latest financial results show revenues of Canadian $1,846.9 for the quarter ending April 30 2025, a decrease of 7.7% compared to 2024.
