Italian start-up Boatee has launched its new electric outboard to the market.
The Boatee Smart 1.3 outboard is the first product from the company and has been designed to meet a growing demand for sustainabble and high-performance marine propulsion systems.
At the centre of the outboard is a 1300W electric motor, capable of delivering more than 50 minutes of runtime at maximum power and 2.5 hours at 50% power.
The direct drive brushless motor, which weighs 6kg, is powered by an external LiFepo4 battery that recharges in 2.5 hours.
The outboard is manufactured from anodised aluminum and fibre reinforced recycled plastics using additive processes which Boatee says highlights its commitment to sustainability.
Accessible
Other features include a simplified mechanical design that requires minimal maintenance, and an integrated touch-screen that is used to control the Boatee Smart.
The motor can also be controlled via a smart phone via Bluetooth low energy.
The screen is used for monitoring of battery levels and realtime power consumption, speed adjustment control and direction.
“We wanted to create something that’s accessible, sustainable, and beautiful to look at,” explained Boatee’s founder. “We believe the future of boating is electric, and we want to be part of that change.”
Other features include remote lockout and MOB facility, to prevent unauthorised use and stop the motor in emergencies and precise GPS tracking.
