AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems will name their combined company Axanzo after completing their planned all-share merger of equals, which values the business at about US$25 billion.
The companies previously said the group would have annual revenue of approximately US$17 billion and could generate about US$600 million in annual cost savings, with 90% expected within three years of completion.
The merger was announced in November 2025 and is expected to close in early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions. The proposed ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam is AXZ.
AkzoNobel and Axalta will continue to operate independently until the transaction closes. Customers and partners will continue to use their existing teams, brands and commercial relationships during that period.
100 paints and coatings brands
The combined portfolio will include about 100 paints and coatings brands operating across more than 160 countries. It will cover decorative, industrial, automotive, aerospace and marine markets, broadening the group’s exposure across end users and geographical regions.
Greg Poux-Guillaume, chief executive of AkzoNobel and designated chief executive of Axanzo, said: “Axanzo signals a bold new start for a company which will be stronger in every way.”
He added that the group would focus on performance, competitiveness and establishing ‘a profitable and sustainable path forward as a world leader in coatings’.
Chris Villavarayan, chief executive of Axalta and designated deputy chief executive of the combined company, continued: “Axanzo will continuously reset the standard of what coatings can do.”
The name references elements of both companies’ identities, although the existing AkzoNobel and Axalta businesses and brands will remain unchanged until completion.
