£2 million boatshed redevelopment starts

A £2 million boatshed redevelopment has started at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour.

Based on the South Coast of the UK, the redevelopment will create office space and workshop units.

The redevelopment will also incorporate new boat refit facilities.

Stage one of the redevelopment is underway, as contractors moved on to the site to remove cladding from the original boatshed in preparation for building work to start.

”We are excited to start work on the boatshed redevelopment and look forward to seeing the new impressive riverside offices, meeting rooms and workshops take shape,” said harbour master Wendy Stowe.

Boatshed project

“It’s another milestone in delivering the best facilities and services for our customers.”

The boatshed project follows a recent £2.5m redevelopment on the water, to reconfigure and extend the marina as the yacht harbour celebrated its half-century.

The yacht harbour team has moved to a temporary reception in the boatyard, while a more limited chandlery has opened for the duration of the seven-month project.

The development follows on from an investment earlier in 2024 in new boat cradles and a reconfiguration and extension to the marina.

The harbour also recently purchased a 17-meter-high cherry picker.

Other improvements include the installation of environmentally friendly boat pump-out and washdown facilities.

More than 10,000 visitors stay at the yacht harbour each year.
