Diego Michele Deprati, chief executive officer of Baglietto, has been awarded the Pioneer of Nautical Science (Pioniere Della Nautica) 2026 award in the manager category by Italian marine industry association Confindustria Nautica.
The prize honours individuals who, through strategic vision, expertise and passion have made a significant contribution to the development, innovation and strengthening of the Italian yachting sector.
The award recognises Deprati’s commitment ‘to the growth of the Italian nautical industry worldwide through entrepreneurial vision, managerial skills, and an innovative spirit, successfully leading major shipyards that represent the excellence of Made in Italy’.
The award ceremony took place during the SATEC 2026 annual convention organised by Confindustria Nautica.
Italian yachting industry
“I am deeply moved this evening,” said Deprati. “When someone in my profession receives this recognition, the credit never belongs to one individual alone.
“It belongs to the course that has been charted together with a team of dedicated craftsmen, suppliers, workers, technicians and engineers who have always contributed to making the Italian yachting industry the finest in the world.”
Deprati has served as chief executive officer of shipyards for more than 30 years, initially at Mondomarine.
He was appointed CEO of Baglietto in 2012, where he has also overseen the relaunch of the CCN brand.
Tough market challenges
In 2020, he led the merger process between the two Gavio Group companies, Cerri Cantieri Navali and Baglietto.
“This industry has given me so much. It has taught me the value of hard work, a profound respect for the sea, and the ability to navigate through market challenges without ever losing sight of a long-term vision,” concluded Deprati.
“I believe that becoming a pioneer does not mean looking back with nostalgia but rather setting a course for those who will follow.”
