ACUA Ocean expands engineering team

ACUA Ocean has promoted Oli Mulcahy MBE to the role of chief technology officer to lead ACUA’s design, engineering and technology strategy.

Oli joined ACUA as head of engineering in September 2023 after a technical career.

He will be supported by Alex Liddle who joined ACUA from Babcock in January as senior naval architect, working alongside senior robotics engineer Charles Anuyagu (formerly Mercedes F1) who leads systems integration.

The ACUA team has also recently welcomed hydrogen engineer Ben Nicholson, mechanical engineer Ben Shelbourn, naval architect Tom Nicholls and Imperial College Masters students Nuria Marti-Brosse and George Alexander who have joined on six month placements.

Luke Uransel has also joined the ACUA commercial team as commercial director Americas, based out of Austin, Texas.

“The quality of the team we are building is testimony to our global ambitions and the capability of our HUSV vessel design which we believe will shake up the autonomy market,” said CEO Neil Tinmouth. “The ACUA team are laser-focussed on delivering a platform that can deliver exceptional maritime data collection capabilities and commercial value to end users.”

As the ACUA HUSV transitions into its sea trials and evaluation phase in Q3, the waterfront team in Plymouth, UK, will be led by head of marine operations, John Hunnibell (formerly DE&S maritime autonomy lead) and sea trials engineer Nigel Mashembo, who joins the company from Thales.
