The DAME Design Awards at METSTRADE are open for nominations, with entry fees set to enhance watersports holidays and experiences for people with disabilities.
The awards will highlight the efforts of manufacturers who are bringing new design concepts to market. They will also recognise incremental design improvement of equipment that has previously been in use.
METSTRADE exhibitors can submit their entries online until September 16 after which a panel of jury members will assesses the design aspects of the products including aesthetics, functionality, efficiency, environment, and innovation.
In a final two-day product inspection meeting at RAI Amsterdam, the jury will select a nominated shortlist of entries, before identifying the best product in each category.
An eventual DAME Design Awards overall winner will then be chosen with the winners announced at the METSTRADE ICOMIA Breakfast Briefing on the first day of the show.
Each year a charitable cause is selected by the METSTRADE Exhibition Committee with Dutch organisation SailWise chosen for 2024.
The charity provides active multi-day water sports activities for those with disabilities. Each year, more than 1500 people aged between 10-90 participate at the organisation’s centre at Robinson Crusoe Island on its specially adapted two-masted clipper.
The 2024 DAME Design Awards proceeds will go towards a new, low maintenance jetty and terrace on Robinson Crusoe Island.
