Millikan Boats has unveiled its new solar-powered catamaran: the M.10.
The catamaran is the result of several months of design, and developed for sustainable and autonomous boating.
Combining a redesigned design, increased performance and meticulous manufacturing quality, the M.10 completes Millikan Boats’ range.
The catamaran measures 10 meters long and 3.4 meters wide, with onboard space maximised.
A flat deck layout offers several relaxation areas. There are also two cabins, a deck cabin, six berths, a fully equipped galley, and a bathroom.
The M.10 is powered by two 20kW electric motors, offering a cruising speed of 8 knots and a top speed of up to 12 knots depending on the options.
Solar technology
The M.10’s core is built on next-generation solar technology with the catamaran’s solar roof featuring 10 Sunpower Maxeon panels, capable of producing up to 450W each.
In addition, there are two deployable solar wings to optimise energy production while at sea.
Using flexible panels, the wings harness the sun’s reflections on the water to produce up to 50% more energy. The wings fold automatically at the end of the voyage, forming a 12sqm central enclosed cabin.
The M.10 has 41kWh of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, which can provide power for more than 100 nautical miles without stopping.
Stored energy
And in the complete absence of sunlight, the M.10 has been developed to maintain a speed of 6 knots for 10 hours, solely on stored energy.
In addition, the M.10 offers a kite option with simplified deck hardware allows the engines to be switched off while the vessel is sailing and continue to generate energy via solar panels.
Millikan Boats was founded in 2022 and entered the market in 2024 with its M.9 model which served as the basis for the design of the M.10.
Feedback received on the M.9 led the company to redesign the boat and test different types of engines to obtain data on their respective performance and benefits.
