Solid State Marine, US manufacturer of solid-state battery solutions for the maritime market has introduced its technology to the North American market.
Solid State Marine is the exclusive licensee for the technology for the marine industry in the US.
The research and development for the technology took more than ten years of testing and two years of field tests.
The patented technology uses a solid electrolyte to conduct lithium ions, reducing the distance between the cathode and anode and avoiding heavy and often volatile liquids or gels.
Solid State Marine batteries are safe to charge and operate down to -4 degrees F (-20 degrees C).
The batteries are interchangeable with existing battery footprints and can be charged with existing chargers.
The company is led by CEO, Tom Calef, a United States Coast Guard licensed captain with more than 30 years of marine experience.
Bringing a completely new battery technology to the market is no simple task.

“Solid State Marine batteries shatter expectations by offering a more powerful, lighter weight, faster charging and overall safer option to boaters of today’s marketplace,” said Tom.
“Bringing a completely new battery technology to the market is no simple task, especially in a harsh marine environment.
“We are confident that users will appreciate the added benefits of our products as boat electronics and systems become more complex and power needs evolve. We’re very proud of our ability at Solid State Marine to bring a range of products that will change the boating experience forever.
“The performance gains and longer run times are a tremendous benefit, but what is most exciting to me is the increased safety and reduced risk of fire.”
The batteries are available in 12V, 24V, 36V,48V, and up to 400V and 700V and in all standard battery sizes.
