Sanctuary Cove boss steps down

Sanctuary Cove boss Johan Hasser has stepped down after 12 years of leading the boat show.

Johan was general manager of Mulpha Events which along with running the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), also runs the Sydney International Boat Show.

“Johan has taken the show to new heights, making it a key event in the marine industry worldwide,” said Patrick Lonergan, head of hotel, hospitality and leisure, Mulpha Australia. “His contribution extends far beyond SCIBS, with the events division growing significantly under his guidance.”

He leaves the organisation after overseeing a record-breaking 2024 SCIBS, which attracted 335 exhibitors, 43,741 attendees, 767 boats, 102 product launches, and more than 2,500 marine products.

“I am immensely proud of what my team and I have achieved at Mulpha Events,” Johan said. “The growth of SCIBS and the addition of new events reflect our passion and commitment to excellence. I am confident Mulpha Events will continue to thrive.”

We thank Johan for his outstanding contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Recruitment for a suitable replacement is underway. In the interim, senior events manager Corey Rattray-Wood, who has worked closely with Johan during his tenure, will lead the team.

“Corey has been a key part of our success and will ensure continuity as we prepare for an exciting year ahead,” Patrick added.

“With a strong foundation and a growing portfolio, Mulpha Events is focused on creating exceptional experiences for attendees, exhibitors, and partners.

“We thank Johan for his outstanding contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The next edition of SCIBS will take place in May, and the Sydney International Boat Show in partnership with the Boating Industry Association will be held from July 31 to August 3.
