Amsterdam Yacht Service is expanding its capabilities with a new 85-meter jetty and onshore facilities.
The development follows on from the shipyard recently opening its wood workshop to cater to carpentry demands across a range of classic and superyacht projects.
The latest changes include the removal of the old floating dock, which has been replaced by the new jetty.
“The old floating dock has been sold and we’re waving goodbye to it,” explained Robert Binnekade, MD of Amsterdam Yacht Service.
“It’s been with us since 1973, but it was an old-style dock and it needed work to get it back up to acceptable standards.
“Although it was long it was also narrow – narrower, in fact, than what our travel lift can take – so it wasn’t worth the investment as we wouldn’t have enough work for it.”

The new jetty offering has berthing on both sides and is served with the essentials such as water and electricity.
“It’s perfect for yachts and we can take superyachts of significant size on either side,” added Robert.
“We see a lot of demand for works done in water rather than being hauled out and being next to the main part of the shipyard we will also be able to step and un-step masts in the water, and also do things like take out the anchor and chain without needing to haul out.
“The jetty gives us a lot of additional space – in fact, we’ve already had interest from our neighbours because everyone wants in-water space.”
In addition to the new jetty, the shipyard has also added a further 560sqm of concrete hardstanding, expanding the space available for haul-out works and refit projects.
