Steeler Yachts has acquired Holterman Shipyard following its filing for bankruptcy earlier in October
The move will provide Steeler Yachts, based in Steenwijk, Netherlands with additional production capacity to cope with demand.
Holterman Shipyard was founded in 1964 by Johannes Holterman. His son, Robbert Holterman later took on the yard expanding its offerings to yachts with a length of up to 33 meters.
The shipyard was declared bankrupt following significant financial challenges.
“With 16 new motor yachts currently under construction, the strategic location of Holterman Shipyard, just trn minutes from Steeler’s existing facilities, offers substantial opportunities for further growth in the high-end segment of aluminium and steel-built motor yachts,” explained the yard in a statement.
Shared expertise
The shipyard is expected to restart production straight-away employing former Holterman staff.
“For the Holterman team, this takeover offers a chance to continue their work and passion after a period of uncertainty, providing much-needed job security,” the statement continued.
Both Steeler Yachts and Holterman Shipyard are known for their fully custom superyachts of between 15 to 30 metres for clients with Steeler planning on using this shared experience in the future.
“Steeler Yachts is confident that the shared expertise between the two teams will lead to an even higher level of excellence in delivering bespoke yachting experiences.”
According to reports, Holterman Shipyard employed 14 people across brokerage, architecture, shipyard services, sales brokering, purchasing brokering, auctions, and exterior design.
