Exide Technologies has introduced a new sleep mode function for its marine and leisure equipment li-ion batteries.
The new sleep mode function from Exide Technologies is designed to ensure batteries remain in optimal condition – even after prolonged periods of inactivity.
The sleep mode function automatically activates after 30 days of idleness, triggering various events; the battery deactivates non-critical functions, such as Bluetooth, which significantly reduces internal power consumption.
Additionally, the battery terminals are electronically disconnected inside the battery, which prevents discharge during storage.
Reactivating the battery is carried out by recharging it. Within seconds, the battery reactivates, allowing for both discharge and charging functions.
“At Exide Technologies, we understand the challenges boat owners face after a long winter,” explained Exide Technologies Guido Scanagatta, director product management and application automotive.
“Our new smart sleep mode function ensures that our marine and leisure equipment li-ion batteries are raring to go. This clever innovation emphasises our commitment to providing reliable, maintenance-free power solutions.”
Features of the new batteries include lightweight, the ability to withstand frequent charge cycles while maintaining performance and rapid recharging.
In addition, the batteries come pre-charged, are maintenance free and the battery management system offers full protection against misuse and reports alarms via Bluetooth to the Exide mobile app.
The batteries also have a heating function which allows recharging to take place in temperatures as low as -20°C, using power from the charger to heat the battery from the inside.
