TYKUN launches 50-knot flagship

TYKUN unveiled its 12.9-metre TYKUN XII flagship at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, where the aluminium supertender operated as Royal Yacht International’s official event tender.

The new model can exceed 50 knots with twin outboards and is offered with 400hp, 450hp or 600hp engine options.

Fuel capacity is up to 1,360 litres and freshwater capacity reaches 300 litres.

The TYKUN XII received the Blue Wake Award in the Tenders/Water Toys category alongside the TYKUN X.

It was TYKUN’s second consecutive win and recognised a life cycle assessment used to produce an environmental product declaration covering both models.

Impact of the product

The declaration, described by the company as the first EPD for a motor yacht, was prepared by SEA INNOVHUB, independently verified by RINA and registered with the international EPD system.

Valid until 2031, it covers impacts from raw materials and production through operation, maintenance and end of life.

“We now know the impact of the product we build and therefore have a data-driven foundation on which to work,” said MED Group chief executive Marco Galimberti.

And he said the findings would inform material, process and component changes across TYKUN and its professional vessels.

The tender uses a stepped hull and deck built in 5000-series aluminium, drawing on MED Group’s experience with military, law-enforcement and special-forces craft.

Tommaso Spadolini designed the project from a concept developed with Benedetta Iovane, while Carlo Bertorello handled hull and structural engineering.

Two configurations

Two configurations are available. The High Bow version shown in Monaco provides greater interior volume and a forward sunbathing area. The Low Bow alternative uses a walkaround layout with bow seating and a table.

Both versions have a central helm beneath a carbon-fibre hardtop, an optional bar installation and an aft cockpit with fold-down side bulwarks.

Below deck, owners can select a double bed, V-berths or a convertible living area, with a separate shower room and storage.

“The larger dimensions gave us greater freedom in designing the spaces, but also the responsibility to maintain proportions consistent with the boat’s sporty character,” said Spadolini.

RINA executive vice-president Emanuele Castagno said independent verification provided the methodological rigour needed to make the environmental results transparent and comparable under international standards.

TYKUN is part of the MED Group.
