Oyster Yachts has unveiled its first sailing catamaran, the new Oyster C60.
Developed with multihull design practice Berret-Racoupeau, the 60ft model marks a new direction for the British bluewater sailing yacht builder while retaining its focus on offshore cruising, owner support and long-distance capability.
The launch at the Cannes Yachting Festival follows more than a year of research with existing Oyster owners, former owners who had moved to other yacht types, prospective customers and the wider market.
Oyster says the work identified growing interest in the space, stability and comfort of multihulls, as well as the different ways they allow owners and guests to spend time at sea.
“We have always evolved by listening to our owners,” said Stefan Zimmermann Zschocke, chief executive of Oyster Yachts. “We have seen some move towards multihulls as their lives and ambitions have changed, and we have also heard from prospective owners who are drawn to Oyster but see a catamaran as the right yacht for them.”
He added that the C60 was intended to respond to that demand without compromising the qualities that have defined Oyster since its founding, applying the company’s bluewater knowledge to a yacht designed around the advantages of a multihull.
Extended ocean passages and coastal cruising
The Oyster C60 has been designed for both extended ocean passages and coastal cruising. It offers 110sqms of connected interior and exterior space, with social areas alongside more private accommodation.
The stern includes twin fold-down bathing platforms and a central tender lift to create a broad waterside terrace, while wide-opening doors connect the aft deck with the saloon.
A bar serves both areas, and a recessed foredeck lounge and flybridge add further outdoor living spaces.
Inside, the owner’s suite is separated from guest and crew areas and features Oyster’s triple Seascape windows.
Three en-suite guest cabins provide accommodation for family and guests, with dedicated crew accommodation also included. The yacht has up to one metre of bridgedeck clearance and substantial onboard capacity to support extended periods away from shore.
The C60 will also be supported by Oyster’s wider ownership infrastructure, including its global service network, after sales team and Bluewater Academy, as well as its owner events, rallies and community programmes.
Oyster is also developing dedicated multihull preparation and training to address the particular requirements of catamaran ownership.
