Beacon Park Boats Ltd, based in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, has been bought out of administration by Timeout Escapes Ltd.
The luxury canal boat holiday company operated a fleet of more than 20 boats, falling into administration after post-Covid pandemic trading challenges left it carrying mounting debt.
The sale saved 30 jobs.
The company entered administration with Paul David Williams and Oliver Collinge of PKF Littlejohn Advisory appointed as joint administrators in June 2026, following the company’s move to seek formal support in late 2025 as debt pressures mounted.
Administrators explored several options including a Time to Pay arrangement with HMRC and sourcing additional external funding, however these were not found to be viable.
The business entered a short period of trading while in administration, ensuring the summer holiday bookings were honoured and staff employed, before the company was sold.
Change of ownership
“Beacon Park Boats has an incredible heritage and a unique offer to holidaymakers wanting to explore the beautiful Welsh valleys,” said Paul Reeves, partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK.
“While the business had struggled in the years following Covid, its fundamentals were very strong and we had confidence that it could thrive given the opportunity. “
In a statement, Beacon Park Boats said there had been a change of ownership but the business was staying in the family.
“Alasdair’s brother, Iain [Kirkpatrick], is stepping in to head up our business operations, while Alasdair {Kirkpatrick} will be staying on to do what he does best, looking after our wonderful customers, old and new,” said the statement.
“From the 7th August 2026, the business is now operated by Timeout Escapes Limited, trading as Beacon Park Boats.
“Most importantly, despite the change of company ownership, your experience with us remains exactly the same.”
The company designs and builds its own narrowboats, adding to the fleet each year.
