Oceanvolt has appointed Alec von Weissenberg as chief executive, succeeding Mikael Heikfolk with immediate effect.
Von Weissenberg has been with the electric propulsion company for more than eight years and was previously commercial director, responsible for sales and key commercial operations. He has also served on Oceanvolt’s board of directors since March 2026.
His appointment follows a turnaround period led by Heikfolk. Oceanvolt’s board said the former chief executive had helped establish a more stable operational base for the company.
“I am very humbled, honoured and excited to take on the position of CEO at Oceanvolt,” said von Weissenberg. “I would like to thank our stakeholders, Board of Directors, and employees for their trust in me. I would also like to extend my thanks to our former CEO, Mikael Heikfolk, for leading an excellent turnaround and for the important work he has done.”
New opportunities
Von Weissenberg said the company would now look to build on its achievements, pursue new opportunities and deliver sustainable growth.
Riku Niemelä, chairman of Oceanvolt’s board, said: “As we now shift our focus toward accelerating sales growth and strengthening our global market presence, we are confident that Alec is the right person to lead the company into its next chapter.”
Niemelä said von Weissenberg’s understanding of the business, customers and industry, combined with his commercial track record, positioned him to support Oceanvolt’s next phase of growth.
