Heysea is to built its first 35m Explorer yacht for a European client, a project that marks the start of a broader explorer yacht programme for the Chinese shipyard and the opening of another category within its model range.
The shipyard has also confirmed that 45m and 54m models are under development, each using steel hull construction with aluminum superstructures and targeting a volume below 500 GT.
The first yacht will have an overall length of 35.96m with an 8.15m beam, 2.45m design draft and full-load displacement of 372.5 tonnes.
Exterior lines and the interior concept is by Italian-based VYD Studio, founded by Paolo Dose, marking the continuation of an existing relationship between the two partners.
Unrestricted navigation
Core engineering including hull structure, electrical systems, piping, machinery engineering and interior fit-out, will be by carried out in-house by Heysea.
The new 35m Explorer is classed for unrestricted navigation, with a capacity to carry 38,000 litres of fuel and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Twin 900hp main engines will deliver a maximum speed of 14 knots.
Features of the new yacht include a near-vertical bow, a forward superstructure and stretches of open deck aft. Stepped aft decks will provide several distinct areas.
Delivery is anticipated for 2028.
