Yamaha Motor Europe has announced a new five-year exclusive partnership with Italian start-up Belisama Yacht.
Through the partnership, Yamaha will be the preferred and sole outboard engine supplier for the company’s CyberCat electric catamaran workboat.
Yamaha will provide integrated electric propulsion solutions designed to complement CyberCat’s innovative architecture.
The partnership aims to contribute to decarbonisation efforts while supporting practical, scalable pathways towards carbon neutrality in professional marine applications.
Belisama Yacht was founded two years’ ago by a team of graduates, with the modular CyberCat at the heart of the yard, a fully electric, modular catamaran boat developed for environmental operations, logistics and passenger transport in inland and coastal waters.
Resource efficiency
The company’s design philosophy is geared around extending the life-cycle of a vessel to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.
The vessels are constructed from marine‑grade aluminium modules for strength, weight reduction and sustainable demands.
The modular structure allows each of the company’s three models to be configured for different uses and reconfigured if needs change, without the need to acquire a new vessel.
“Their modular approach and strong environmental focus represent exactly the kind of innovation the marine industry needs,” explained Fabrice Lacoume, marine director at Yamaha Motor Europe.
“By EmPowering the CyberCat platform with Yamaha technology, we are supporting a solution that not only reduces environmental impact but also contributes to the industry’s decarbonisation ambitions while moving towards carbon neutrality, alongside delivering new levels of efficiency, adaptability and performance for professional marine applications.”
