Marine interiors company Neptune has been acquired by Nick Mulder, owner of Mulder Shipyard.
The acquisition is set to provide a strong foundation to further grow Neptune and build on its successes.
Nick Mulder has been involved in the shipbuilding industry for more than 15 years, with experience in the design, development, construction and delivery of luxury yachts.
Based in Zwaagdijk-Oost, the Netherlands, with another base in Palma de Mallorca, Neptune specialises in seating, lounge and bedroom upholstery for pleasure craft and superyachts, as well as bespoke solutions for shipbuilding projects.
In-house production
The company has produced mattresses, cushions and lounge sofas for the maritime industry for more than 30 years, with the process from design to production, taking place in-house.
As part of the acquisition, previous owner of Neptune, Marcel Botman, will take a step back, with Mulder taking over operations of the company.
Matthijs Jonker will run the day-to-day management of the company, while Martin Mast will also remain with the organisation.
“Neptune is a strong and respected company within the nautical sector,” explained Nick Mulder.
“It is precisely the combination of craftsmanship, quality and the close-knit team that makes it special.
Growth and development
“The strength of Neptune will be fully preserved, where we will provide targeted support in further growth and development.”
Marcel Botman added: “It was essential for me that Neptune would be in good hands.
“With Mulder, I have full confidence that the company, the team and our clients will be continued and further developed in the right way.”
Following the acquisition, Neptune will continue trading under the Neptune brand.
Mulder Shipyard, based in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk, has been operating since 1938. The family-owned shipyard builds both custom and semi-custom yachts.
