Dave Marlow receives lifetime achievement award

Dave Marlow has been announced as the recipient of the NMMA’s 2026 Marine Industry Lifetime Achievement Award in memory of Charles Chapman.

The award honours an individual whose contributions have made an enduring impact on the recreational marine manufacturing industry and recognises Marlow’s four decades of leadership advancing boating safety, regulatory alignment and technical standards across the recreational marine industry.

Marlow, currently senior director of product integrity at Brunswick Corporation, joined Sea Ray Boats in 1986 and has spent his entire career with Brunswick Corporation, progressing through engineering and product development roles to lead enterprise-wide product integrity.

Industry standards development

In his current role, he provides oversight of safety, regulatory policy and compliance across Brunswick’s global portfolio, working closely with the legal, engineering and government affairs teams.

Over the course of his career, Marlow has also contributed to industry standards development.

He has been actively involved with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) for more than 30 years, serving as chair of the board of directors and chair of the technical board, while continuing to support standards committee work.

He also contributes to NMMA committees and certification initiatives that guide best practices across the industry.

Public service commendations

Internationally, Marlow has helped shape global marine standards through his work with the International Organisation for Standardisation Technical Committee 188 for recreational craft.

In addition, he has worked closely with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), including serving as chair of the National Boating Safety Advisory Committee.

His service has earned multiple public service commendations, including the USCG’s Meritorious Public Service Award.

“Dave’s career reflects a deep and lasting commitment to advancing safety and standards across recreational boating,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, NMMA president and chief executive officer.

“His technical leadership, collaborative approach and dedication to continuous improvement have strengthened the foundation of our industry and improved the experience for boaters worldwide.”
