Tiwal, manufacturer of inflatable sailboats, has unveiled its latest model – the Tiwal 3R Max.
The aim of the new dinghy is to make sailing accessible in a format that is easy to transport and simple to rig.
As such, Tiwal boats are fully dismantlable and can be packed into bags and assembled in 15 to 40 minutes depending on the model.
The Tiwal 3R Max is an inflatable skiff design, built on the Tiwal 3R featuring headsails that facilitate planing starts and increased speed on all points of sail.
The latest model integrates new rig components with the job and gennaker sized to enhance performance without compromising handling.
Performance without constraints
Upwind, the 2sqm jib enhances pointing ability and improves stability, while downwind, the 3sqm gennaker is used to turn wind gusts into acceleration.
“With the 3R Max, we aimed to amplify sensations, making every gust more intense and every acceleration more dynamic,” said Marion Excoffon, designer and co-founder of Tiwal.
“This is a boat for sailors looking for performance, without the constraints of a traditional rigid boat.”
The Tiwal 3R Max is built on a high-pressure inflatable structure combined with an aluminium frame.
Stable and intuitive
The five-part carbon mast is reinforced and free of shrouds to absorb loads efficiently.
The central structure has been adapted to integrate a bowsprit, while deck hardware provides ergonomic control of the headsails.
“The result is a boat that is powerful, stable and intuitive in all sailing conditions,” said a spokesperson for Tiwal.
“True to the philosophy behind the brand’s international success, the Tiwal 3R Max retains its compactness, portability and quick setup.”
The new 3R Max has a length of 3.2 metres and a width of 1.6 metres. The dinghy weighs 61kg and has a maximum load of 200kg.
