d’Albora Marinas, Australia’s largest marina and hospitality network, has acquired electric picnic-boat experience firm GoBoat Australia.
GoBoat’s mission is to make sustainable, self-drive boating accessible to all Australians and the acquisition is intended to speed the company’s expansion, strengthening its national footprint.
GoBoat was founded in 2017 Nick Tyrrell on Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra and has grown from a single lake operation to now operate across much of Australia.
The company now operates across six destinations — d’Albora Cabarita Point (NSW), d’Albora The Spit (Mosman, NSW), d’Albora Akuna Bay (NSW), Melbourne (VIC), Gold Coast (QLD), Brisbane (QLD), and Canberra (Kingston) with further expansion planned under the new ownership into 2026.
We’re excited to bring GoBoat’s unique sustainable offering into the d’Albora family, unlocking further growth and new opportunities into the future.

Since launch, GoBoat has welcomed over 500,000 guests nationwide and operates more than 73 electric vessels, seeing vessel manufacturing onshore from 2022.
“GoBoat’s electric boating experience perfectly complements d’Albora’s marina portfolio and will bring eco-friendly and accessible boating experiences to more Australians than ever before,” explained Nick.
“We’re excited to bring GoBoat’s unique sustainable offering into the d’Albora family, unlocking further growth and new opportunities into the future.”
d’Albora operates across 16 locations along the Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria and sees the acquisition as an exciting business opportunity.
“We hope it encourages more people to use our marinas and enjoy the Australian boating lifestyle,” said Brad Couper, managing director of principal investments, real estate of d’Albora owners MA Financial Group.
“This partnership increases public access to our marinas and waterways and highlights the benefits of private capital investing in public assets.”
