Southern Ocean Marine Engineering is to collaborate with the interior yacht design studio Atelier Cala, with a partnership that will combine technical consultancy and interior design for refit and new-build superyacht projects.
The Spanish based organisations say the partnership responds to the growing demand from yacht owners, managers, and shipyards for clearer workflows, reduced risk, and stronger alignment between design vision and technical execution throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Southern Ocean Marine Engineering will continue to lead all aspects of technical consultancy, owner representation, and day-to-day project coordination, ensuring alignment between engineering, construction, and design teams.
Atelier Cala will remain responsible for interior design development, bespoke furniture design, procurement of furnishings and accessories, and owner guidance, with a focus on wellbeing, spatial quality, and elegance.
By combining technical precision with design vision from the very beginning, we create a process that is more cohesive, efficient, and transparent.

The collaboration will offer clients a single point of contact with interior design considerations integrated early in the technical planning process.
“I believe this collaboration between Southern Ocean Marine Engineering and Atelier Cala represents a significant advantage for owners in the mega yacht industry,” explained Juan Ignacio Martinez, founder and CEO of Southern Ocean Marine Engineering.
“By combining technical precision with design vision from the very beginning, we create a process that is more cohesive, efficient, and transparent, ensuring each project is delivered with clarity and confidence while safeguarding the owner’s interests.”
Arnau Salvadó, founder and head designer of Atelier Cala, added: “This collaboration allows us to develop interior concepts with a strong technical foundation from day one.
“It is especially relevant for refit projects in Spain and for international new builds, where close coordination between design teams, shipyards, and owners is essential.”
