Remembering Scott Henley, Bahama Boat Works

Twin Vee has announced the death of Scott Henley, former co-owner and founder of Bahama Boat Works which Twin Vee acquired earlier in 2025.

In a statement, Twin Vee said Scott would always remain a part of the company and the industry.

“We mourn the heartbreaking loss of Scott Henley, founder of Bahama Boat Works,” said the statement.

“Scott was a visionary boat builder whose larger-than-life personality and meticulous craftsmanship defined the Bahama name.

“At Twin Vee, we are honoured to carry forward his legacy.”

High-end boats

Scott was an avid fisherman who transferred his love of the sea into a business together with childhood friends Bob Sparks and Rob Thomson.

His marine career began with the position of sales manager at Universe Boat Works which produced the 31ft Jupiter in the form of a cudddy cruiser and open offshore boats.

From there he moved to Henley’s Custom Marine and in 1995 joined Bob Sparks and other partners to create Venture Marine which built and sold high-end offshore open fishing boats.

Bahama Boat Works was founded in 2004 with Scott taking on the role of partner, director of sales and marketing selling the boats and acting as a point of contact for customers.

Unique products

The creation of Bahama Boat Works was the culmination of years of on-the-water experience and personal drive with Scott’s fishing experience making his input valuable in perfecting the layout and the usefulness of the products.

In an interview with European CEO, Scott described the boats as ‘unique products for the discriminating boat guy, for the educated boat connoisseur, for the person who desires the absolute best, not only in product but also in service’.

He added: “It was important to us to make the boats fisherman-friendly, user-friendly and logical to people who have boats.”

Scott was more than just a brilliant boat builder; he was a visionary who helped shape the modern center console industry, said Bahama Boat Works in a statement.

Ultimate offshore vessel

“Over the years, his legacy has taken form in more than one world-class boat company, but it was with Bahama Boat Works that his pursuit of the ultimate offshore vessel truly came to life.

“Those who knew Scott will remember his unmatched passion for design, his relentless drive for perfection, and the way he treated customers like lifelong friends.

“His boats didn’t just carry people, they carried his values: safety, strength, performance, and craftsmanship without compromise.”

Deeply missed

The statement continued: “Scott had a way of making friends wherever he went, whether on the docks, at the helm, or walking the floor of the factory.

“His presence was magnetic, and his impact on the marine industry will be felt for generations.

“He will be deeply missed by all of us at Bahama, by his friends and colleagues across the boating world, and by every customer whose life was made better by a boat he built.

“Fair winds and following seas, Scott. Thank you for everything.”
