New novel hull platform from Delta Marine

Delta Marine is building its first yacht featuring a novel hull platform solely tested through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis.

The new double chine semi-displacement hull form is also the Seattle-based shipyard’s first project that will meet full IMO III and EPA Tier 4 recognition, which facilitated the installation of the newest approved gas exhaust systems on the main engines.

The new hull form is designed for efficient cruising speeds of 12 to 14 knots and the yacht is also capable of cruising faster when necessary.

The hull shape, coupled with twin MTU 4000s at 2,600hp each, provides the yacht with a top speed of 27 knots.

“Creating a new hull platform that accommodates custom builds in the 110 to 124ft size range was a unique proposition for us,” said Delta vice president Michelle Jones.

“But we are thrilled with this design and for the opportunity to showcase our capabilities in advanced composites construction with a full custom, full luxury, family-oriented Pacific Northwest yacht with the capability for speed.”

The yacht has been designed for timeless comfort with understated luxury, with the arrangement optimised for owner operation and family adventures.

The interior features a main salon with U-shaped seating aft of the dining salon accommodating up to ten guests.

A forward galley can be enclosed and separated from the guest spaces.

Eight guests can be accommodated in four lower-deck ensuite cabins that comprise a full-beam master stateroom, mirrored convertible twin cabins, and a VIP suite in the bow. Crew accommodations for two are located aft.

The yacht features walkaround side decks with control and the pilothouse has twin helm seating and convertible dinette/ berth.

Additional seating and a full bar are situated on the bridge deck aft in a semi-enclosed space that can be shaded with retractable sun awnings.

Custom yacht builds

The yacht will also feature a beach garage as well as an articulating swim platform equipped with a Hydromar transformer sea stairs unit.

A custom aluminum tender has been specified to be stowed on the boat deck and launched by a 5,000lbs davit.

Another feature is the yacht’s anchoring system, for which Delta partnered with the anchor manufacturer to design a hidden flush-mounted anchor in the stem of the vessel.

The new 110ft yacht  is among six custom yacht builds in varying stages of construction at the Delta shipyard.

“We’ve experienced increasing demand for a fully custom option in the 110 to 124ft size range,” explained Michelle.

“As most of the yachts in this size are production builds, we were thrilled to work with experienced owners on their unique vision for a Pacific Northwest-focused family yacht, which they could operate with minimal crew and cruise the beautiful coastlines of the San Juan Islands, British Columbia, and Alaska.”
