First luxury yacht launched under project to advance Egypt’s maritime industry

The Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats has launched its first luxury charter yacht as part of its efforts to advance the maritime industry in Egypt.

The Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats is a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Co. with this launch the first in a planned series of charter yachts.

The yacht features a Sport Fisherman design and is 37-metres in length, with a beam of  8.2-metres. The craft weighs 135 tons and is powered by 2600hp MTU engines, with features including a main suite, four guest cabins, and four crew cabins.

The yacht is equipped with dual front hydraulic units for operating a multi-purpose forward winch as well as a stern hydraulic unit for operating a swimming platform.

New fibreglass factories

The new yacht has a design by the American based Fryco yachts, with interior design by the designer Georges Vafiadis.

Construction has been carried out under the supervision of RINA.

Alongside the new charter yacht, the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats is progressing work to complete fibreglass factories in the company’s industrial zone in Safaga.

This is being done in parallel with the commencement of several company-affiliated projects to build yachts and tour boats for tourism purposes.

Maritime tourism sector

On his part, Mostafa El-Dougishy, ​​CEO of the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, points out that the company has begun work on several projects simultaneously to serve the maritime tourism sector.

Among these projects is the construction of another 18-metre tourist yacht, with a fibreglass mould being prepared for the production of multiple versions once the factory becomes operational.

Additionally, two 17-metre-long, 6-metre-wide cruise boats, each with a capacity of 15 passengers, are being built for the Suez Canal Authority in parallel with the construction of the Nile Taxi, a 25-passenger vessel designed for Nile River tourism.
