GX Superyachts has revealed its first hybrid explorer yacht, the GX38 Voyager.
The 38m superyacht follows on from the brand’s debut 42m, already in build, and its GX34 hybrid yacht, and marks a shift towards adventure yachting in severe weather conditions.
The yacht has been developed at the specific request of a client and aims at efficiency with comfort on board.
To that end, the powertrain will use GX’s proprietary hybrid propulsion system which dovetails solar panels, diesel generators and electric motors to reduce carbon emissions.
The yacht will also have optional Azimuth pod drives and a class-approved ice-strengthened hull and will have a top speed of up to 16 knots.
GX Superyachts is delighted to have unveiled the GX38 Voyager, which is the fruit of months of work with a very motivated client.

In hybrid navigation mode, the range at 6 knots will be 10,000 nautical miles.
The GX38 Voyager will have an 8.2m beam with the option of a 9m (or more) beam under development with interior and exterior design by Marco Casali.
“It has been a very rewarding process to work so closely with the experienced GX Superyachts team in developing the brief and design for a capable explorer yacht,” he said.
“Starting from the assumption that guests would want to spend extended periods on board to reach remote cruising grounds, the GX38 Voyager includes generous tankage, food storage and lots of space for belongings from clothing to water toys.
“Similarly, long periods aboard require us to pay a lot of attention to levels of comfort and service.”
Responsible yachting
The yacht is designed to be available with either a traditional hull or the ultra-wide configuration, offering more interior volume towards the bow and an open aft deck.
The owner’s suite will be at main deck level with VIP cabins below, with ensuite accommodation across five or six cabins, supported by a crew of six or seven, with the interior configuration able to be customised according to the owner’s choice.
“GX Superyachts is delighted to have unveiled the GX38 Voyager, which is the fruit of months of work with a very motivated client,” said GX Superyachts founder Vladimir Zinchenko.
“It extends our unique commitment to responsible yachting into the adventure sector for the first time, with a yacht that is equally capable of heading to high latitudes or remote areas – all in exceptional comfort.”
