Patrik von Sydow is to step down from his role as chief executive officer of Turquoise Yachts.
Burak Akgül, already a board member and executive director of the shipyard, is taking over as CEO with immediate effect.
von Sydow’s time as CEO has been marked by significant corporate transformations and growth.
During his tenure, Turquoise successfully completed the transition of its shareholding structure and strengthened its position in the global market through yacht sales, new builds, and yacht deliveries.
Management transition
He will continue at Turquoise until the end of November as company advisor to ensure a smooth management transition.
Akgül brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role, much of it gained in Italy, where he served as CEO and general manager of Perini Istanbul-Yildiz, part of the Perini Navi Group, for which he worked for more than 20 years.
His background represents a rare combination of global vision and in-depth knowledge of Italian yacht building, qualities that make him particularly suited to lead Turquoise through its next phase of development, said the shipyard in a statement.
And the shipyard said Akgül’s appointment marks an important step in the shipyard’s strategic strengthening and international consolidation, as the brand continues to stand out for innovation, build quality, and design capability in the custom superyacht segment.
Turquoise Yachts specialises in the construction of superyachts in steel and aluminum.
