Ocean Safety has joined forces with The Famous Project as its official safety partner as the all-female team launches its campaign to take on the Jules Verne Trophy.

Ocean Safety will equip the team and its two yachts, the MOD 70 and the Ultime – Idec Sport, with Ocean ISO Ultralite liferafts, Ocean Safety Sport Pro 170N ADV lifejackets with Ocean Signal MOB1, and a selection of man overboard recovery equipment from its Jon Buoy range.

Ocean Safety’s team will also be available throughout the three-year campaign to offer advice and support to the seven strong crew, one of which is Ocean Safety ambassador and record-breaking British sailor, Dee Caffari MBE.

“I am proud to be an ambassador for Ocean Safety, where I have been working with the team on the development of safety equipment and education for the end users,” says Dee.

Paramount importance

“When I am offshore, I am aware that having trust in your safety equipment is of paramount importance.”

She added: “This will give us the confidence to push hard and achieve great things.”

Alistair Hackett, Ocean Safety’s MD, added: “We are delighted to partnering with The Famous Project as it takes on the non-stop circumnavigation of the Jules Verne Trophy, promoting women in sailing and inspiring the next generation of female sailors as it goes.

“We’re committed to developing the most innovative and effective safety equipment for the sailing community, so those onboard can feel safe and secure even in the most challenging of environments.”

Alexia Barrier, The Famous Project Skipper, concludes: “Embracing the vast expanse of the ocean is a testament to the power of adventure and the importance of safety.”

The record-breaking attempt is scheduled to start in October 2025.
