New Yamaha Marine European Engineering Centre opens

Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) has launched its new Yamaha Marine European Engineering Centre (YMEEC), near Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.

The centre will offer an engineering standard testing protocol and personalised testing to boat builders in Europe.

Yamaha says the YMEEC’s location provides the best atmospheric and aquatic conditions for testing marine engines on boats all year round.

The YMEEC provides boat builders with all Yamaha’s services in one central place, allowing them to test different marine engines, mounting and propeller configurations to create the best possible set up.

In addition, Yamaha says the new centralised set up will increase efficiency, reduce excessive transport of boats and equipment, and therefore reduce their carbon footprint.

We believe this centre will truly make a difference to boat builders.

Fabrice Lacoume, marine director of Yamaha Motor Europe

“It is with great sense of commitment and joy that we open this one-of-its-kind engineering centre to support collaboration with boat builders, through boat testing and homologation,” said Fabrice Lacoume, marine director of Yamaha Motor Europe.

“We believe this centre will truly make a difference to boat builders, at the same time contributing to our global marine sustainability goals.”

The centre will enable Yamaha to provide boat builders with full test results, using advanced testing equipment and data recording through a standard protocol, so that the results are comparable and reliable.

Test data can also be collected for knowledge and research purposes, allowing Yamaha and its partners to make improvements on their products.

The new centre will also support Yamaha’s efforts in the electric motor development in collaboration with its facilities at Yamaha Motor Corporation in the US.
