ZF is extending its range of electrified drive solutions with the addition of the ZF 3000 NRD PTI.

The new hybrid transmission, designed for the power range up to 1,940kW, has been designed as a space-and weight-saving solution for achieving hybrid propulsion in waterjet vessels.

The new hybrid waterjet transmission is based on the ZF 3000 series, which has been in the market for several years.

The ZF 3000 NRD PTI is designed for a maximum output of 1,940kW and 7,560 m on the main unit as well as 250kW and 1,500Nm on the electric power take-in (PTI).

The closely coordinated ratio covers the range i=1.093 to i=2.952.

ZF is also working on further variants – the ZF 5000 NRD PTI and ZF 8000 NRD PTI – to cover larger power output ratings.

The ZF 3000 NRD PTI can be coupled with electric motors thanks to its PTI allowing vessels equipped with this transmission to cruise in protected waters, ports, or bays.

The transmission unit is also quieter in this configuration for onboard comfort.

In addition, the electric motor can also power the onboard equipment.

ZF has already received initial orders for the new ZF 3000 NRD PTI hybrid transmission and implemented customer projects with patrol boats and firefighting vessels fitted with the new system currently operating in Asia.
