Mattijs Willenborg has joined Fibre Boats as CEO.

Mattijs joins the company having previously worked across four continents in several fields. His marine career includes founding JPK Pacific, exclusive authorised licensee of JPK Composites for the manufacture and sales of JPK yachts across Asia Pacific.

“His passion for sailing and his significant boat-building experience with JPK Pacific make him an excellent addition to our team,” said Fibre Boats in a statement.

“We look forward to working with Mattijs as we continue to grow and innovate at Fibre Boats.”

Mattijs added: “I’m thrilled to join Fibre boats as CEO and lead the charge towards revolutionising marine transport.

“With a deep passion for innovation and sustainability, I’m excited to work with Brent and Fiona to push the boundaries of what’s possible with electric hydrofoils.

“Fibre boats is uniquely positioned to shape the future of sustainable boating, and I look forward to collaborating with you all on this incredible journey.”

Fibre Boats was founded by Fiona Sutherland and Brent McTigue. The boatbuilder is based in Newcastle, Australia, and focuses on bringing to market what it terms innovative, intuitive, and socially oriented boats.

The company’s F5 is an electric hydrofoil designed to reduce drag and increase efficiency by around 75%.
