Garmin has acquired Lumishore, manufacturer of high-performance LED lighting systems in a move that sees the electronics manufacturer moving into a new market segment.
Lumishore was founded more than 15 years’ ago and provides LED lighting systems to a variety of vessels from runabouts to superyachts.
“Lumishore brings an exciting new product category that complements Garmin’s existing marine portfolio and furthers our ability to provide seamless vessel integration,” said Jarrod Seymour, Garmin vice president, marine segment leader.

Boating experience

Lumishore offers a range of single, dual and full-colour change underwater and above-water lighting systems.
The privately owned company is headquartered in Swansea, UK, with a distribution centre in Sarasota, Florida and carries out in-house R&D and production. Its employees will become part of the global Garmin workforce.
Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
