UK sailmaker and chandlery acquired

UK based sailmaker and chandlery P&B has been acquired from founder, author and sailor Ian Pinnell.

P&B’s roots date back to 1974 with the creation of the Storrar & Bax brand which manufactured sails, repaired boats and spars alongside supplying chandlery items.

In 1991, the company’s name was changed to Pinnell & Bax (P&B) and since then has progressively expanded and moved into larger premises.

In 1997, the company took on Dave Wade who swiftly progressed through the business to become commercial director.

In 2014, the company introduced it’s own dinghies and after a successful introduction bought boat-building in-house with the P&B/JP Solo.

It is great to be leading P&B in this new phase.

The sale of the company to GOAT Marine’s Rhys Rollitt and Steve Badham is part of a plan to further the development of the business with a new P&B shop initially planned for the Southwest.

“I am so excited to be leading this business into a new period of growth,” said Rhys. “Everything you love about P&B, the knowledgeable staff, the swift service, and the winning sails, stays, but we can add more investment into stock, the website, and new outlets to develop an even more comprehensive range to satisfy our customers.”

“It is great to be leading P&B in this new phase, we are really looking forward to being able to support Dave Wade and the team here to develop P&B even further,” added Steve.

Ian will remain as a consultant for the next two years with the rest of the staff remaining in their roles.

The company, headquarted in Northampton, UK, currently makes sales for more than 30 dinghy, wingfoil and SUP classes and carries out GRP, wood and carbon dinghy and mast repairs.
